Apple Pie a la Mode in a Cone Recipe: A Dessert Punt!

Gentle Readers, sometimes one realizes that summer is over, there are ice cream cones in the cabinet taking up space, and a serving or two of ice cream left in the freezer. How to transform this into a autumn-a-licious treat? Never fear, The Practical Cook is here, ready to Punt! dessert.

Okay, perhaps “recipe” is extremely generous in this context. You’ll need cooked apples, for which you could use apple pie filling in a can, but it’s an easy make-at-home. Peel, core, dice apples, cook with a bit of butter, sugar, and cinnamon (even in the microwave, if you must). Use a mini marshmallow  as a stopper in the bottom of a standard issue ice cream cone. Add apple filling almost to the top. Top with a small scoop of ice dream. Sprinkle chopped pecans on the top (optional, yet delicious).

Memories of summer, tastes of fall.

What’s your Punt! dessert of choice these days? Post a comment, send a tweet, or bake me some cookie. (Well, the latter was worth a try. The Practical Cook does adore cookies.)
