Reviews from the Road: Sgt. White’s Diner (with video!)

Gentle Readers, though I’m currently on location in Las Vegas, I’ve been talking about barbecue today. Why? Because you can take the Practical Cook out of the South, but . . . I think you know the rest. Sgt. White’s Diner is a little hole-in-the-wall place that shares a parking lot with the Piggly Wiggly in Beaufort, SC. If that’s not enough of a recommendation, read, or rather watch, on.

And for those who want to see a still shot of the delicious.

Cabbage Done Right!

Cabbage Done Right!

Please complete this sentence, Gentle Readers: When I see a small and unobtrusive restaurant, I . . .

I look forward to your comments.

  1. That looks pretty authentic! I am on a quest this week to find the best BBQ in North Carolina to understand the difference between Carolina BBQ and all the others. First stop is a place called The Pit in Durham. Should be vlog ready this week! That was a fun trip you took us on. Thanks!

I wish you luck in your quest, and look forward to the video footage. Don’t forget the hushpuppies!

The Pit on 55 in Durham? If yes, I like that place. Don’t miss Allen and Sons in Chapel Hill as well (on 86).

As a native of the Lexington, NC area, I do have strong opinions in the area of smoked pig. 🙂
